Modern with a Country twist

This Southern Highlands holiday home owned and designed by Interior Designer Graham Simmonds perfectly treads the line between Modern and Country.

Modern Farmhouse

This Modern Farmhouse, located in the Southern Highlands is a breath of fresh air.  Graham Simmonds owner of Gray and Co is a renowned Sydney Interior Designer and retailer and has created a beautiful, simplistic designed home that is warm and welcoming. Graham has very cleverly created this warm atmosphere throughout his home by selecting an array of second-hand furniture which he has restored and reupholstered to give it a new lease on life. It lends this home a sense of character and history which can be hard to achieve in a new build. Graham has also showcased how to apply sustainable practices in a home by purchasing vintage furnishings. A new home doesn’t mean having to buy all new furniture and appliances. Adding a few vintage pieces to a room can take it from sterile to charming.

Entry and Sitting Room

In terms of style, this home has a sleek, modernistic look with elements of the Southern Highlands countryside represented through the warm timbers, brass fixtures and textured furniture. To really ground this home Intrim Mouldings were used throughout, perfectly combining the Modern and Country style through the soft curves of the mouldings. SK552 skirting boards in 135mm and 90mm architraves make quite the statement in this home, adding an element of class.

Kitchen

A gorgeous marble splashback, timber kitchen island, brass fixtures and Intrim SK552 skirting boards help create a balance between country and modern styling.

Wine Room

In the wine room, a custom profile based on SK839  was used to line the walls to create character whilst also providing a unique backdrop for the wine bottles. The added edition of quirky furniture like the ripples in the chair frame pairs well with the wall and completes this room beautifully.

Main Bathroom Lining Board

You don’t need tiles to create a beautiful bathroom. Adding warmth to the main bathroom, Intrim LB35 moisture-resistant lining boards are the perfect cost-effective solution instead of tiling your entire bathroom.

Wall Batten in the Bathroom

SK06 a skirting board profile have been used as wall battens. A custom additional curve was run to provide the 2 rounded edges for the wall batten. The slightly curved edges of the profile, add a classic look with a slight country influence.

Bedroom

SK552 skirting boards add intricate detail to the walls of this bedroom.
