The Ambers Port Stephens

Set on five acres in Port Stephens, just outside Newcastle, The Ambers is the latest project from the team behind boutique holiday stays Salt at Shoal Bay and Talm Beach House. Originally a family home, the property has been transformed into a destination designed to host everything from family gatherings to weddings, retreats and special events.

With seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the home comfortably accommodates up to 22 guests. Each space has been carefully considered to balance privacy with shared living, creating a layout that supports both connection and retreat.

Resort-Style Living for All Ages

The design centres around relaxed, resort-style living. A sunken lounge anchors the main living area, opening directly onto the pool and outdoor entertaining zones to create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.

Outside, the home extends into a series of spaces designed for both activity and downtime, including a pool with slide, outdoor bar, BBQ area, tennis court and expansive lawns with a firepit. Inside, a billiards room and media room add further layers of entertainment, while a dedicated kids’ zone combines a rumpus room with built-in bunks and playful elements designed for younger guests.

Each bedroom includes its own ensuite, reinforcing the home’s function as a considered and comfortable group accommodation.

Cohesive Detailing and Coastal Simplicity

Throughout the interiors, a modern coastal palette is supported by consistent architectural detailing. Intrim’s SK23 skirting and architrave feature across the home, including curved wall applications that soften transitions and complement the relaxed material palette.

These details help bring cohesion across a large and varied floorplan, allowing each space to feel connected while maintaining its own identity.
