Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right skirting board height?

A good rule of thumb is to scale the skirting height to your ceiling height - taller ceilings suit higher skirtings.
Ceiling Height Skirting Height Architrave Width
2400-2500mm 135mm 90mm
2501-2700mm 185mm 90mm

>3001mm 285mm+ 115mm+

What’s the difference between FJ pine and MDF skirting boards?

FJ pine timber offers superior durability and a premium finish. While MDF is more cost-effective, it is more susceptible to warping and distorting if it comes into contact with moisture. At Intrim we recommend using primed FJ pine for skirting boards and architraves.

Can skirting boards be painted or stained?

Yes, Intrim skirting boards and architraves can be finished to suit your interior palette. Primed FJ Pine and primed MDF skirtings arrive ready to paint, making them ideal for achieving a crisp, uniform finish in any colour. If you're looking for a natural timber aesthetic, American Oak skirting boards can be stained to highlight the grain and complement other timber elements in your space—perfect for classic interiors or bespoke design schemes.
