Coastal Aged Care Facility
Making a sea change to an aged care facility never looked so good. A residential homely feel with VJ Wall panelling, timber handrails and warm neutral finishes.
You can practically feel the refreshing coastal breeze just by looking at this stunning Aged Care facility by Northside Constructions. Located near the central coast town of Woy Woy, a peaceful, beautiful place surrounded by native wildlife and picturesque beaches. This aged care facility has brought elements of the coast like the oars used to number the rooms and the artwork that contains images of the beach, all to create a welcoming residential space that feels like home.
Crisp white and dove grey walls provide the perfect backdrop for colourful artwork, with Intrim VJ board Pro 150 used to create the stunning beadboard wainscoting used along the bottom half of the walls in the hallways as well as full length panels used in the common areas. Connecta Rail round timber hand rail in 40mm raw Victoria Ash was used, blending beautifully into the facility. Intrim Essentials DAR was used as backing to the Connecta Rail and for skirting boards in the hallways. Intrim Essentials Half splay was used for the skirting boards in the bedrooms.
Beadboard wainscoting first emerged in traditional Victorian and cottage-style homes. This style of wainscoting consists of gorgeously subtle, vertical grooves (or ‘beads’) milled into the wood, topped with a flat chair Rail. The style adds character and charm to any space it is applied to. To get the Beadboard look, VJ Board Pro was selected, and when applied to areas such as hallways where handrails were required, the beadboard is beautifully complemented by the Connecta Rail. The Intrim Connecta Rail is a continuous dowel handrail system incorporating 40mm (selected for this project) or 50mm diameter timber dowel handrail and stainless steel accessories. Ideal for aged care facilities which require handrails for the older and frail residence while still providing a stylish appearance and compliance with Australian Standards. The handrail was supplied to site pre-coated eliminating the need to laquer the handrail on site after installation, which depending on the size of the job that can be a substantial saving. The ease of installation of the grub grooves and the process to install is also a lot quicker than other products on the market, providing significant benefits for the installation at this Woy Woy project.
