Truefitt & Hill Barber Shop
Australia’s first Truefitt & Hill Salon not only offers discerning gentlemen the epitome of comfort & indulgence, but creates a historic 1800’s English atmosphere straight from a Charles Dickens book.
Truefitt & Hill were established in London in 1805 as one of the finest traditional gentlemen’s barber and perfumer. They are the Guinness Book record holder of the ‘world’s oldest barber shop’, have had the honour of serving the Monarchs of Great Britain throughout nine consecutive reigns, have been referred to throughout literature during the ages (including by Charles Dickinson), so there is no surprise they have survived for over 2 centuries having offered men a premium and sophisticated barber service supported by luxury men’s grooming products.
Australia opened its very first Truefitt & Hill shop in Canberra in 2018 and Intrim supplied period skirting boards, architraves, cornice mould and inlay moulds to achieve the look of the old world barber shop experience.
VSL Joinery used old style carpentry and staining techniques to create an authentic period feel with Victorian Ash Intrim IN12 Inlay Mould to create the beautiful wall panelling detail, Intrim CM01 Cornice Mould to frame the cabinet tops, Intrim SK70 skirting board and Intrim In22 Inlay Mould used ingeniously upside down and applied as a chair rail.
